Concrete is the ideal material for building and Compton have succefully used concrete for its garages, sheds workshops and buildings for over 50 years!
Concrete is a building material composed of cement, crushed rock or gravel, sand and water, often with chemical admixtures and other materials.
So why do Compton use concrete for its garages, sheds, workshops and buildings?
Concrete is one of the most versatile, durable and cost-effective building materials known to man. Click here for your copy of Compton's brochure showing the wide range of concrete finishes available.
It is also environmentally sustainable, with green credentials that outperform both steel and timber - see below for more details.
Just look at these little known concrete facts:
Concrete is completely non-combustible (classified an A1 fire resistant material under EN 13501-1) and has a slow rate of heat transfer, making it a highly effective barrier to the spread of fire. This is one of the main reasons Compton's concrete sheds prove so popular - click here for details.
Through concrete's excellent thermal mass, energy consumption in commercial and residential buildings can be reduced by up to 50% - a key component in the UK's effort to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions. In addition to this Compton has its own environmental policy and has recently invested in a fleet of more environmentally friendly delivery vehicles.
The UK is self-sufficient in, and a net exporter of, concrete. Unlike steel, the UK is able to produce almost all the concrete it needs domestically. This self-sufficiency enhances concrete's sustainability by minimising the need for transport and supporting the UK economy. All Compton concrete garages, sheds, workshops and buildings are made in our Warwickshire factory supporting the local economy with agents and installers based almost everywhere creating jobs throughout the UK. Click here for your local agents details.
Concrete is a small net contributor to greenhouse gases responsible for 2.6% of UK CO2 emissions in 2002. This compares with 33% of total CO2 emissions from transport and 47% from buildings in use.
We are sure you will agree, concrete is the ideal material for our garages, sheds, workshops and buildings - why not see our products for yourself at your local Compton agent - click here for details.
