Whatever your choice, you can trust the result.

Choose Compton and you have so many reasons to be confident you have made the right choice.

If you are not replacing an existing garage, it's very straightforward. If you have an old garage to dispose of, either corrugated iron, timber framed, brick or even an old concrete garage, you will have to arrange to have it taken down and removed. Contact your local agent and they can normally help you.

Uses of your Compton building:
A Compton building is so versatile people use it for many things -

  • a workshop
  • utility room
  • home office
  • wine cellar
  • gym
  • micro brewery
  • hobby room
  • and even as somewhere to put the car!

What's right for you?
The Compton range is the most comprehensive available. With this amount of choice, we have come up with a guide to help you through the process of choosing your building. Remember that your local agent is there to help you at any stage, and will normally arrange a no obligation meeting at your home, if you want it.

The first thing you will need to decide is - What do you want to use your Compton building for?

What's right for you?
  • Will you be storing large items like garden furniture, lawn mowers, bicycles, exercise equipment and ladders?
  • Do you need workshop space and intend to incorporate a work bench?
  • Will you be installing appliances like washing machines, dryers or freezers?
  • Do you want to line your building so it can be used as a home office, recording studio, photographic studio, playroom or gym?
  • Do you want to use power tools in your building for mechanical repairs, woodturning etc?

Once you have decided what you want to do with your building, simply follow the Compton 1 - 2 - 3

1 - Shape
There are three basic shapes to choose from:
  • The Flat range, with roof falling from front to back.
  • The Apex range has a pitched roof at 12.5°, with a slope to both sides.
  • The Banbury range, with a pitched roof at 25°, and a slope to both sides, definitely a more traditional looking building.
The shape of your building will determine how well it will look on your property. Remember that the right choice can enhance the look, and therefore the value, of your home.

2 - Size
Seems obvious, but will it fit?
  • Consider the position in relation to your house and check on the size of your car - don't forget your wing mirrors
  • Make allowance for the turning circle of your car and the width of your approach road
  • Please make sure that you allow enough space to open your car door when you park inside your garage, don't take the paintwork of the edge of your door
  • Look at including a personnel access door as well as up and over doors, and remember to allow for the opening arc of the door
  • Remember some customers would have chosen a longer or wider building once they see the final result - and it only costs a small amount to add those extra feet
  • Ask your agent if the size you want isn't available, sometimes we can supply buildings in sizes other than those in the price list

Please make sure there is enough space for all your needs - recent research showed that well over half of all customers would have chosen a bigger building if they had thought about it at the time...

3 - Style
You've chosen the shape and size of your building - now choose the style.
  • Choose your finish from Spar, Brick or Rockstone
  • Reduce maintenance by choosing maintenance - free options
  • Why not choose an up and over door to match your house style from nearly 90 different styles and finishes?
  • Specify the Compton Auto-lift or Thermaglide remote control door opener, no more getting wet as you struggle to open the up and over door
  • Ring the changes with personnel access doors and choice of windows
  • Choose the colour of your fibre cement roof from 4 options available to blend in with your home
  • Specify PVCu, Cedar or Plastisol fascias, depending on your model
  • Pick granular finished steel roof tiles, in a choice of four colourways
  • Decide to add security options to make it harder for vandals to damage or break into your building
